Another hat

Just finished this little hat this afternoon.
The flower and feather thing came from Walmart, and the hat I made.  Wish Evy was here so I could try it on her head.  I really don't have any way of knowing if it fits without trying it on her.

So are you all ready for Halloween?  I waited to buy my candy today and ended up at two different places because the first store didn't have much left.

Happy Halloween

My daughter went to work like this... Minus the dog bone.  But with the weapon on her, plus her usual assortment of mace canisters.  She works for a company that sells weapons so she's allowed to carry whatever weapons she wants in the store.  No she doesn't work in a bad area, quite the contrary, last year the town only had two thefts, and no other crimes reported.  The company she works for openly supports card carrying gun toting folks.  Now that she's an adult she's looking into getting her concealed weapons permit.

Santa hat

Evy's Santa hat is pretty much done.  I'd like to find some holly or something to attach to the front but if I don't find any I'm happy with the way it is.  Though it does look kind of odd in the picture.  I don't have a model with a small enough head so I put it over a jar to photograph.  I'm sure it'll look much better on Evy's head.

Ho ho ho!

On the needles today is another hat for my bald little grand baby.  I'll be seeing her this weekend so I hope to have this done by tomorrow. Maybe I'll even make a pair of matching mittens.  Finished pictures will be posted later this week.

Hurricane Sandy

Lots going on throughout the north east.  I have quite a few family and friends there without power so I hope they're all okay.

My daughter is getting slammed with wind and rain at our other house in Ohio.  She assured me she was fine this morning but I still worry.  My son is in New York and I assume home from work because he was texting me telling me about a new app this morning.  He almost never texts me on a week day, especially during the day if he's working.  From the way the maps look on tv my son is probably seeing less damage than my daughter is in Ohio.  I hope they and their families are all safe.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those within the path of this storm.

Scrap afghan

This is what I've been working on this week.  My stash of yarn is bulging at the seams thanks to a really good estate sale that my mother and daughter went to this past summer.  In that stash of yarn, plus yarn I already had, was a whole lot of blue yarn or colors that would sort of match blue.  This is what I came up with so far.  I was thinking I'd connect them as I went along but I didn't like the way the connections looked so I decided to just make long strips and sew them when I was done.  The finished blanket will be about twin size when I've finished the strips.  I'm still trying to decide how I want to sew the strips together.  I don't want them whip stitched together so it'll probably be crocheted.  That will mean having to crochet on top of each color in the strip so the blanket looks balanced.  I'm not sure if I'm going to connect all the pieces with another blue color or a black to give it a stained glass effect.

90th blog is a charm?

Since Multiply is or has shut down I figured I'd start a new blog here.  So far I've had nothing but issues but I hope they're my last.

This blog is just going to be a continuation of my personal life as I live it.  Complete with the things I've made, food I've cooked, and just a general blog here or there about my family and travels.  If you're lucky you might even get to hear about my cute little dog too.
